In our experience with our Skystream, which sits about 125' from the house on a 45' monopole tower, we rarely notice the sound coming from it. Once in a while if you listen close you can hear the hum it makes when the wind is really cranking out side, but otherwise we usually don't even notice it's there. A grand total of 0 kilowatt hours of electricity bought yesterday! Not too bad for working out of my home office and my computer, music and peripherals going the entire time. Not to mention the typical stuff in the house pulling juice the whole day long.

Which wind turbine is right for your home?
Here are the keys for choosing the right generator:
1. SITE Ensure you have room on your property for the generators foundation and guyed wires (if applicable). Also check for any height restrictions in your area. Your generator head will have to be 20ft above any nearby obstructions.
2. USAGE When you size your generator you want to pick a generator that is close to your actual usage. It is alright to supplement a portion of your usage, but buying a larger system than you need will drastically reduce your payback.
3. INVESTMENT It is important to choose a generator that will fit your budget. The average payback for one of our professionally sized and installed units is 9-12 years.
